Areas of Focus at URLA
Land Disputes
Land remains a vital asset within Urhobo communities. URLA provides legal guidance and representation in land ownership conflicts, boundary disputes, and community land claims—ensuring justice, equity, and peaceful resolution based on law and tradition
Environmental Pollution & Climate Change
The Urhobo nation, situated in the oil-rich Niger Delta, faces environmental degradation from oil spills, gas flaring, and pollution. We advocate for environmental justice, hold polluters accountable, and educate communities on sustainable environmental practices and climate resilience.
Women & Youth Rights
URLA empowers women and young people through legal literacy, advocacy, and representation in cases involving gender-based violence, workplace discrimination, and access to education and opportunity. We believe equality is the foundation of progress.
Human Rights Protection
We promote and defend the fundamental human rights of all Urhobo people, offering legal aid to victims of injustice, discrimination, unlawful detention, or abuse. Our work ensures that no one is silenced or excluded from justice.
Labour & Corporate Law Disputes
We assist workers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners in resolving employment conflicts, unfair dismissals, contractual issues, and corporate governance matters—ensuring fairness in both the workplace and business community.
Oil, Gas & Power
Given the Urhobo region’s central role in Nigeria’s energy sector, we provide legal support on issues related to oil exploration, gas utilization, compensation, and community relations. We advocate for transparency, equitable benefits, and environmental responsibility.
